What each tag does
- Title is the clickable headline in search results and the text on the browser tab.
- Description is often used as the snippet under the headline. It does not affect ranking directly, but a clear one earns more clicks.
- Canonical tells search engines which address is the main one when the same page is reachable at several.
- Open Graph and X tags control the title, text and image shown when the page is shared in chats and on social networks. Use an image of about 1200 × 630 pixels.
