Favicon Generator

Turn a logo into the full set of icons a modern website needs: a multi-size favicon.ico, an Apple touch icon and 192 and 512 pixel app icons, zipped with a web manifest.

Runs in your browser. What you enter here is not sent to our server.

  • favicon.ico with 16, 32 and 48 px inside
  • Apple and Android icons included
  • One ZIP with a web manifest

How to use the Favicon Generator

  1. Choose your logo. A square image of 512 pixels or more gives the sharpest result.
  2. Optionally add a background colour, padding or rounded corners.
  3. Select Download all (.zip) and unzip the files into the top folder of your website.
  4. Copy the HTML shown under the files into the <head> of your pages.

What each file is for

  • favicon.ico holds 16, 32 and 48 pixel versions and is what browser tabs and bookmarks look for.
  • apple-touch-icon.png (180 px) is used when someone adds your site to an iPhone or iPad home screen. It always has a solid background because iOS does not show transparency.
  • icon-192.png and icon-512.png are listed in site.webmanifest for Android and installable web apps.

Open the manifest in a text editor and fill in your site’s name before uploading.

Questions about the Favicon Generator

What size should my source image be?

At least 512 × 512 pixels and square. Simple shapes with strong contrast stay recognisable at 16 pixels; fine detail and small text do not.

Do I still need a favicon.ico file?

It remains the most widely supported format, and some browsers and tools request /favicon.ico automatically, so it is worth including alongside PNG icons.
